Anybody here ever went hunting in florida? I heard that byou can hunt feral pigs on private land anytime without a license. Anyone know about other regs that I would have to comply with?

I travel down to Georgia each year to hunt hogs on private land and there is no limit and no season but you still have to have a hunting license. I think it costs us $25 for a weeks license.

I would make sure the law really allows no license, you don't want to get caught and down in the south, there are a lot more game wardens than up here.

I highly recommend you going on that hunt. Hunting hogs is an absolute blast. But don't underestimate them. They have a nose that is second to none!

"...about other regs that I would have to comply with..." All U.S. Federal and Florida State laws. You should look into Florida's laws regarding non-resident hunters too. Plus you'll have to know a land owner who will give you permission to hunt.

Thanks guys. I will definitely do all the homework before i pack the crossbow to go south. I am a pig farmer and would love to call in a big old feral boar. I think I would be pretty good at talking pig! I also have an endless supply of natural scents I could freeze and use to attract them. Someday.....

I will be in Ocala 8 Jan till March or April, any hunting in that area. May take down a Recurve , is a guide required, I will be visiting horse farms in the area, with the Equine Dentistry class. Hunting on Sunday an option?

I hunted the Brady Ranch in Okechobee 2 years ago. No licence needed, you could kill them with anything you wanted and you could hunt 24 hours day for hogs. We used hog dogs, man that was fun. I took two boars, one with a bow and one with a .41 mag S&W revolver. The hunt was expensive but the service was truly top notch. Had one boar mounted by Skin and Scales Taxidermy in Naples Florida. Mr. Brady is a true gentleman and offers a quality hunt. When the guides say "don't pat or make eye contact with the hog dogs" they mean it. They are NOT labs. Hope you get to go it is a great hunt and makes a nice break from the -40 weather we have in our country in the winter.
cheers Darryl
