I just bought a Savage Bayonet on ebay, No 4 Mk II. That makes 6 of these I have, 4 are Long Branch, but what's different about this is, it has a serial number on it.
Does anyone else have a serial numbered pigsticker?

There was a collector at the gun show who knew tons about these pigstickers, he had many variations, and made them sound fairly interesting. They're cheap enough to have a big collection of them for very little.

Yes I have about 3,000 of these in stock and I do find some with serial numbers from time to time. Probably done by armorers at the unit level.

Yes its going to take me years to clean them up and catalogue them all and get them ready for sale!

No4 Bayonet

Hi
Your bayonet has a serial number similar to the US No4 serial numbers on the Lend Lease No4 Mk1* Lee-Enfields. US Enfields have a serial number similar to this 12C3456. A Canadian Long Branch serial number is like this 12L3456.
Could be manufactured, and serial numbered to the rifle.

It has S on the bayo and the scabbard, clearly Savage.

It was obviously numbered to match a Savage rifle. Savage didn't do this, so the question is, Who did? These rifles and bayonets could have gone anywhere, over the last how many years.
I was able to reunite a serial numbered rifle and bayonet through the power of the internet, and the intervention of a couple of very helpful collectors. Saw a picture of the bayonet on the 'net, and was able to track it down.

Cool! That was a very long chance indeed...
