Caught this one on a 6" long "Kicking Stick" lure spin castings from shore a few weeks ago, same advice as the post I put above on this page. I'm no pike guru but start with huge lures, the closer to cover the better.

First rule to Pike fishing is never,ever "lip" a Pike like you would a Bass....LOL
Ha Ha! Me and my wifes uncle had my mother in laws new boyfriend (a self proclaimed oudoorsman and fisherman/canoist) in the boat and he tried to "lip" a 28" pike he had caught. We stopped him and said "WTF are you doing!?"
He thought it wasnt a big deal. Not the sharpest spoon in the drawer, that one.
I nearly got burnt! We are used to catching Rainbow Trout and I caught a Brown Trout and we forgot to bring a net. It finally got alongside the boat and was wiggling like crazy and I was so excited, I didn't want to loose it, my oldest son said just grab it, stick your fingers in it's mouth, they don't have any teeth, it's not going to hurt you, candy azz! Well, am I ever glad I didn't, I got my fingers in it's gills instead. Guess what? Browns do have sharp teeth! I could have bled to death right there in the boat, ffs!
