OK guys I was looking in the safe and found a 12.5 Rifle that was needing some minor modifications.

I was hoping to reduce the barrel length of this rifle (legally) to a shorter length (krink-esque). Problem is that the front sight may/should be moved or replaced. Anyone have ideas or recomendations?

Since it cant go to the range its as good as a dewat :(

perhaps a custom brake like this ....

It can still go to the range, just need the proper person with the proper licence to come with you.
Who would that be? Anyone who owns a prohibited 12(5) rifle already has the proper licence, but CFC will not approve the SAP (ATT for prohibs) to actually take it to a range.....

It cant go to the range legally as a privately owned 12.5 prohib. SAPs are no longer being issued. Thats old news.

On my long-term ATT for my AR, it says "Authorization to transport restricted and prohibited firearms".

Or is the law so dumb that you need one long-term ATT for each restricted gun you own?

^ prohib handguns IF you have a 12.6...And to answer your question YES and NO..While 12x license requires a specific endorsment anything sub 12.6< and including 12.5 cannot be transported to the range as the SAP is not longer issued. Lame huh?

As pitdogboy said, that phrase on the ATT refers only to 12.6 handguns. The rest of the 12's are safe queens right now.:(

On my ATT it says "restricted firearm(s) and/or prohibited handgun(s)" and I don't have any prohibited handguns, only rifles.

But back on topic, I have a 84s like that one and that same thought crossed my mind.

how short could you cut the barrel, and it still work,in theory,(you are allowed to still use them in theory)

Have you looked here yet?

where would you get the AK74 muzzle brake?

how about a folding spike bayonet?

"krinkov"? side folder or keep the under folder?

You have an ownership licence and the CFC has taken away transport permits, however any gunsmith or gun store employee is still allowed to transport these under their buisness licence if they stock prohib's and are allowed to "test" such rifles as long as the shooting range permits them to do so.

Enough with the ATT, SAP BS. Those who need to know, know what the deal is.

Back to your question. ACE ltd has some clamp on front sites you could try.

I had a ACE font sight but it wasnt an easy fit for the AK 84 for some reason. I was thinking on moving the existing sight back on the rifle...that and its difficult to get parts from the US.

ACE has two different sized clamp on sights, drop them an e-mail and see which wouldwork, if any.

And what's this talk that it's hard to get parts from the US?

I have another Galil-esque project as well....

ACE folding stock and now has Galil style TAPCO forearm, the sighta are difficult to get although it would be a good idea on this rifle as well.
