Pimped my SKS

to answer a few questions:

The scope and side rail mount I purchased from www.Interammo.com in Edmonton at the recent gun show. He has a couple side rail mounts that will work for the sks and I took and used the one that mounted the scope at the lowest point. I can just get the stripper clips in it with this scope.

Installing the mount was relatively easy I first set the rifle up on a target at the range I want to shoot and did a bore site and lined up the scope to the same target and once that was done marked the mount where I had to drill and taped it for the screws that were provided.

The gas port cover I ordered from SKSMAN.COM

I like the original wood work as well, but as they are so cheap to purchase and shoot right now I purchased this second one with the intentions of adding the accessories to it.

I wish you all the luck with it man. It looks really great and all,...
Not trying to stir the pot here, just telling you MY story.

I did the same thing....Russian manufacture sidemount by "Kalinka", shell casing deflector, composite stock, bipod,....
And it shot like a bag of crap....its an SKS!! Its like putting lipstick on a pig.
I ended up selling all the accessories and putting back on the chu wood and it shot much better. (as good as an SKS can)

Hopefuly yours is a better story. Good luck.

even so it's not the best mount for SKS/scope combination on your pictures (the scope is kind of too high) most likely the problem (bad grouping) is the stock fitting to the rifle...but you are right, the scope will never improve any rifle accuracy... it's only to help aiming at the distance

Are you talking about me ???

Not sure. I was intending that comment to go to LTR308 but when I click on the "find other posts " link in the ad poster's profile it comes to you. Did you change your user name by any chance? If not, sorry for the confusion.

I sent 4 pm's offering to buy his Lee 1000 Reloader and I haven't heard back from him so I don't know if it's a legit ad or not.

Cheers - Rod

Well I finally had a chance to take it out to the range today and site it in. after about 20-30 rounds of setting the adjustments I am very happy with the end results (sorry no pictures).
