What don't you like about the MBUS? Have you tried putting them on correctly?
lol
Yes.
I just put the accessories on quickly for the photo.
Some of the gear is not on there to stay because I don't like some of it, especially the bipod and MBUS.
MagPul MBUS (USA not PTS):
For the price they are passable, I much prefer metal backup sights since they are machined to more rigid specs and are of higher quality.
I have a couple of sets of MBUS and don't like them for these reasons:
- The polymer is injection molded so there is often plastic seam flashing that has to be cleaned up (which should be done at the factory).
- The picatinny base section of the mount is fixed width, so with variances in sight molding production you can get a unit that is almost impossible to push onto a rail, I have one like that and I had to almost pound it on with a hammer, and the polymer at the leading edge of the base is now deformed.
- The flip latch and lever are polymer and with only a few releases the latch edge starts rounding out which gets worse with use and eventually can result in the sight flipping on its own from recoil.
- The front sight pin has too much lateral wobble which changes the POI at further distances.
- Every front sight I own and have seen has plastic crud in the bottom of the post hole where they didn't drill it all of the way through at the factory, on one set that I have the post wouldn't even adjust down because of the crud in the hole (I had to pull off the sight to fix this).
- You can spend another $50 to $100 and get
real flip-up iron sights instead of these airsoft rifle wannabes.
- They are the worst quality, worst designed, and worst QA items of any MagPul product I have bought. I was expecting much more from MagPul USA. I will admit that I don't own every MagPul product so maybe they do have something even worse.
