Does anyone know what firearms Pinkertons used? Did they mark them in any way that would make them identifiable as Pinkerton owned guns today?
 
Pinkertons in Winnipeg used the Colt Police Positive 4", in 38 Special. I just bought one, reblued, and DA only, from an ex-employee.

The firearm that is in question is a shotgun. If the story I am getting from the owner is accurate, it would date to about 1900. It has a gold sheild embeded in the stock, but all markings are gone from this.
