Pinned Hi Cap Glock Magazine Reliability

Hello, I was looking for input on people who have experience with pinned high capacity Glock magazines. I was mainly wondering if anyone has ever had any problems with reliability (such as malfunctions due to the rivets obstructing the magazine spring).Looking to purchase some as I hear they are easier to load. I’m primarily curious about feedback regarding OEM/Factory Glock mags, but am also curious about third party products (Magpul, ETS). I’ve personally had excellent results with factory Glock ten rounders, and unimpressive results with the one KCI mag I purchased. Your input is appreciated. Thanks
 
ive got 3 KCI mags that are pinned.
2 of them run flawless and 1 would be better in the garbage.
2 out of 3 aint bad.....

ive got a couple Glock OEM ones that are pinned and all of those have run flawless for me as well.
just sitting here counting off the top of my head and all magazines combined (AR, pistol, 22, ect) id estimate i probably have around 50 magazines that are pinned and ive only ever had an issue with that one KCI mag and an entire batch of Ruger Mini 14 mags that all had the rivets in the absolute wrong place.
sent them back and they got re-riveted into a better place and now they all work fine.

ive never had an issue with the rivets causing problems.
though i do have a couple mags that are blocked rather than riveted and i must admit, for no reason that i can think of i like the idea of blocking rather then riveting.
just purely i guess for the fact that with blocking you never run the risk of the rivet getting in the way.
 
The only mags I'll use is OEM glock......had KCIs before....complete garbage.....FTF...FTE....SP...DF.....everything and anything happened with that garbage.......got lots of 10/33 stocked up for my FX9.......I used my KCI mags for targets in the shotgun bay later that day......buckshot made nice work of them.....dont waste you time and money on garbage
 
Never had any issues with any of my OEM hi caps.
I've also been using the Magpul mags with zero issues either in the roughly 1000 rounds I've shot through them,, a great buy considering they're around 10-15 bucks cheaper per mag.

Friends don't let friends buy KCI junk mags. Waaaay to many documented issues for you to even consider them as an option.
 
Oem run flawless. They also fit one extra round more than advertised if it doesn't have the exposed metal tab in the front.

Magpul and ets run decently.

I also use kci, they need some tweeking and patience to get them running decently.

I'm confused here, so if it's one of the newer mags it's a prohibited device because it'll hold 11 rounds? Or are we talking south of the border full capacity will hold 18?
 
Check your mags. All of my friends mags that don't have the exposed metal in the front will fit 11 rounds. All these mags are bought new oem mags, even brand new. However, if there is an exposed metal piece in the front of the mag it won't fit 11. I read in the states the mags also fit one over advertised, so a 17 rounder fits 18.

So you have prohibited magazines then.....
 
Did you check your glock mags? Everyone does, (that has the mags without the little exposed metal tab). I think it might be pushing it a bit and may cause premature wear. However, I don't know for sure. They work fine albeit a tad harder to seat and rock the slide.

These are all my friends mags, bought in Canada from reputable businesses. They haven't been modified one bit.

Do you have glock mags without the metal tab FoxAlpha? I'm curious to see your shocked reaction...Press hard for the last round. My friends mags, the 10th round is about as hard to put in as the last round. Use a mag loader or both thumbs for easy loading.

It's irrelevant where you bought them or how many people have them. A pistol mag that holds more than 10 is a prohibited device. Clear cut, end of story.

Good morning,
Brand new Glock 17.
Brand new Austria 10 rounds mags.
Shot about 100 rounds through 5 mags; back home, I saw that the little tab retaining the slide open on the last shot was broken on one mag.
That does not prevent the mag to be used, only it does not hold the slide open.
I saw on the web some people report this issue.
Any thoughts ?
 
I wouldn't say the KCI I just got are hi capacity but originally they are 17 rounds but pinned to 10. I kinda bought them in a hurry since I need them for my JRC for a 2Gun I just shot last week. They ran just fine. One mag had some issue originally but I found that the front metal lip seems to bent a bit too far back so it created some friction for the round coming up from the follower so after adjusting it it ran just fine. The reason I got them is because they can be loaded into my JRC which bolt close whereas the Magpul or the 10rd factory Glock ones both had a hard time getting pushed into the magwell with bolt closed and will result in dropping the mag after first round. These KCI works like wonder on my JRC. I think I will get more.

Looks like his mags only accept 10 rounds, sounds like your buddy's mags need an adjustment to block the 11th round.

Don't worry yourself, all of mine fit well within legal parameters.
As for your "buddy", he may want to have a chat with the place he bought them. Prohibited device charges are a #####.
