Pinning a shotgun tube?

3/4 inch copper pipe slides right into the extension, solder a 1/2 inch cap inside one end and cut pipe to total length needed
spring will fit inside of pipe and the follower will stop at the pipe and a rivet at the end of the mag tube makes you legal

Sure, if you can prove it.

Just as an example, the Tactical VersaMax has the same receiver and 3.5" chamber as the standard and Sportsman models, but the receiver has no caliber markings and the barrel is marked for 2.75" and 3" only. I believe they come pinned for 3".
If you ask Remington, the official word (as far as I know) is that the Tactical model is designed for 2.75" and 3" only despite the 3.5" chamber because of reliability issues with 3.5" shells (hulls collapsing under combined spring pressure and recoil was what I read).

Two things... so can anyone clarify if your barrel is marked 2 3/4 - 3 1/2 which is it (5) 2 3/4 or (5) 3 1/2?

also, one guy mentioned copper pipe but that would be removable unless you glue it in.

Does the mere design of the gas system on the versa max not make it designed to fire 3.5" shells? Is reliably feeding those shells related to magazine capacity? Seems to be a gigantic grey area.
