I have two disassembled AK 30 round magazine kits that I would like to assemble and use. What would be the best way to pin them at 5 rounds?

I tried doing a search but come up with nothing.

thats because you would need assemble them first then pin them...assembling them is a crime....

Not really.

All you need to do is put in 5 rounds and then the mag follower.

No spring and no floor plate.

Measure where the bottom of the follower is. Add 4 mm or so to allow 5.5 rounds.

Drill a hole in the spine of the mag at that position and insert a pop rivet.

I'm with stormbringer. Put 5 rounds in, mark the position of the follower.

Put 6 rounds in, mark the position of the follower.

Find the middle point, drill a small hole, and apply a pop rivet.

Cheap, fast, "permanent"

Is it that simple to bring high cap mags into canaduck rfrom the U.S.?

Probably not. CBSA has their own policies, and might not accept a pop rivet.
If you check the CFC guidelines on alteration of magazines, you will find no mention of pop rivets.
In practice, pop rivetting seems to be accepted.
There are other, neater ways of doing the job.
