Someone told me Pioneer non corrosive (less corrosive) powder will not work with a flinter. Is this true? Presumably, the flash doesn't make it through the hole?

I can't speak to the powder directly, but in a general sense the problem with alternate powders in flintlocks is that their temperature of ignition is higher than that of true black powder. That makes it very difficult to ignite them with the flash from the pan unless you put maybe 10 grains of black powder down the barrel first
