A friend worked at a forestry lookout years ago , while letting a slash out he said the muley does barely waited till he finished and then proceeded to lick it up . Salt is at a premium especially in the spring time when all ungulates need to replenish their minerals .

FWIW, there are places, especially out West, where you are specifically asked to use outhouses/privies because they are so attracted to the salts in urine that it conditions the animals to hang around campsites and other places people tend to urinate. These are often, but not always, places where hunting pressure is nonexistent, but it's still worth considering.

Sometimes I think people worry about it too much. A buddy of mine once decided it was time to take a dump whilst talking with his uncle on a deer stand. Within minutes of him retiring to some bushes to take of business, when lo’ and behold, a buck walked up to the stand and was taken by his uncle.

The quote from the government about a rifle being enjoyed by not only white men, Indians and all classes of Orientals. Isn't that a bit bigoted? The statement that boys are using .22's and it would be safer if they were restricted to only target practice is stupid, isn't it?

New, yet to actually hunt hunter here. I've read some of the posts regarding scent blockers and such and it seems the consensus is that these are mostly not needed. But what about taking a leak anywhere near where you are hunting? Is that a complete no-no and guys piss in a bottle to bring home? Or...am I completely over thinking it and it really doesn't matter?

Maybe a goofy question, but I'm genuinely curious!

Deer - During the rut, piss in the pit. Seriously.

Moose - scent matters later in the season, especially if you're hunting cow.

Deer and Moose - In my humble opinion, spays don't hurt, but they're more of a marketing gimmick than a necessity. The animal can smell you one way or the other, so your best bet is to stay downwind and don;t track your stink all over where they're bedding and hiding out.
