Pistol and Revolver Cleaning

I just use a cheap brush set from Walmart, I think browning or ducks unlimited is marked on it somewhere, been using the same can of g96 solvent and bottle of hopps no9 oil for years, got a can of g96 complete gun treatment included with a handgun I bought so I use that too, works great

I think cleaning, for the most part is a waste of time, except for the barrel.

My son just completely stripped his 1911 and there was just as much carbon inside , on the parts you can’t see as there was on the outside.

So you’re only getting half your 1911 with brushes and cotton swabs. What’s the point of that?

I'm not sure what you're doing, but that entire pistol can be stripped down to the frame. Every part can be cleaned 360 degrees and put back together with no carbon inside.

Point being, most people only clean half the pistol. Why bother, unless you do a complete disassembly?

1911s fire control parts are pretty protected and don't need to be cleaned as often. My Shadow frame gets a hose down, compressed air every 5000rds or so. While the top end gets cleaned more frequently.

Some guns are just more susceptible to getting dirty.

My buckmark, Browning only says to clean what you can with the slide pulled back.

That's a really weird perspective. I have no idea where you're getting this from? I can't speak to "most people", or even "other people"...but when I clean my guns, I clean my guns.
