Hi guys is the process of pistol classification by rcmp lab different than that for rifles. It seems that it takes forever for ramp to give their opinion on rifles. But pistols never face such issues.
 
Prohib pistols are designated by barrel length only - they just look at the manufacturers data to say yes or no, don't need one to examine.

No new prohibs allowed in the country (other than LEO) since '98. they don't have to rule on it, they just don't allow it in the country.
Also designated prohib by caliber-- all.25 and .32 with a few notable exceptions.
