So far I've been a low volume shooter. I'm relatively new at pistol shooting and each time I go to the range I try to make every shot count and hopefully improve my shooting skills one step at a time. I may only shoot 30 to 50 rounds in one session, depending on the success I'm having. It may be a week or two before I get to the range for another session. I've always subscribed to the clean after each trip to the range but I question with my low volume is it really necessary to clean my pistols so frequently. I shoot a CZ Shadow1 and a Colt .45 SS Comp pistol using factory ammo but I will be reloading in the near future.
So, what's a sensible cleaning schedule for a low volume shooter under the circumstances? I'm concerned leaving a gun dirty may cause rusting or some other potential damage I'm not aware of.
