Pistol for my girlfriend

I would pay $1000 for a pistol like that, if I would be allowed to carry it. I would feel so safe, at all times...
And it'd just sit in your pocket like nothing. No big deal.

Glock 19 or Beretta 92 Vertec both have reasonably small circumference grips. The smaller frame of the G19 lets you really wrap it up in your hands. All things being equal I'd go for the G19.
 
A 1911 style pistol (like the STI) will probably turn her into a 1911 addict, this could work well for you, if she caught that bug you'd never have to explain a handgun purchase. I wouldn't let the guys at work know you bought your G/F a Trojan though. :D
 
Laserlips - that little one looks to be just right. My girl is 5' 2" (and 1/2 as she always points out) so her hands are quite small. Our regulations would have to change drastically before I could legally purchase a gun that small however. :( Some great suggestions everyone. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, your great suggestions are actually making my decision harder. Right now I am leaning towards the Browning HP or CZ (both of which are pistols that I have shot and would like to own), as both have a smaller feeling grip than my XD with hogues on it. I don't want to buy another plastic pistol, as I already have the best one made. ;)

A 1911 with slim grip panels has a surprisingly small grip, and the well known short trigger reach.

They are available in 9mm, but the recoil of .45 in a steel framed 1911 is very controllable. They're a really easy pistol to shoot IMO.
 
I bought the g/f a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm yesterday. Got her 6 mags, brand new gun, holster and a case of ammo for $1000. She was originally going to go for a Beretta 96 Brigadier Inox but changed her mind once she has this one in hand. Although I must admit I am liking it very much as well. Just need to find time to take it out now. She will likely be using it for CPCA shooting.
 
I have small hands and I find that a Colt Government model with a flat mainspring housing is just the ticket. When I take my youngest daughter shooting, the .45 slide comes off and a Kimber .22 Conversion Kit goes on. Its a win, win situation.
 
Red...I bought my wife a stainless Beretta 92 Compact M. Very slim grip (single stack mag) and a little bit of "bling" with the stainless finish - she loves it. She has very small hands as well and this gun works great for her.

Nashorn: That Beretta looks perfect. I didn't even know that they made a compact version that was legal here in Canada. I did some research since I saw your post and it seems that they haven't made it in about 15 years, though. Do you ever see them for sale these days? Does your wife want to sell hers? :D Thanks for showing the picture, that really gives me an idea of the size of it. The grip looks quite compact, especially with a single stack mag. Now I'm on the hunt for a Beretta.
