why is there no aftermarket stock options for the svt 40 ?

it would make perfect sense to have a aftermarket stock that could incorporate picatiny rails and vertical grip . be it made from polymer or aluminum
there are countless kits for the norinco m305 , ruger 10/22 and even pistol grip bolt guns BUILT IN CANADA !

i am asking if there is such a kit available , seems perfectly logical to have kit to spruce up a under $300 rifle and semi auto to boot !
 
Bah! That's all we need, another crappy Barbie doll kit for a rifle that works just fine the way it is.

But to be more to the point of your question, most of the plastic aftermarket abortion kits we have here in Canada for rifles are from the States and imported are they not? Which ones are made in Canada?
 
Well im not super interested in the polymer back alley special . Im more interested in n aluminum frame that you can have a ar style buttstock and grip .

And please tell me more of the collector value in a gun you can buy cheaper than a cate of ammo it eats

its cheap right now but you wait a couple years and the price will jump up, garand use to be cheap 2 and now there 1k+ for one, in the states the svt 40 sell for $1200, but the svt 40 has alot of history in them
 
the reason we get them so cheap is because of the import laws in the states , who would sell a rifle in canada for $250 when you can sell it in the USA for $1000 ?
 
which in turn made all the non bubbaed ones more valuable . therefore if EVERYONE keeps their guns stock and soaked in cosmoline they wont increase in value whatsoever , by contrast if you want something to be valuable it has to be rare .

besides having a drop-in kit with one action screw wont wreck anything , in fact you could say that now you can go and shoot and leave that precious shellacked hardwood at home in a sealed case .

Wrong, once the supply of svt 40 dries up, the prices will go up if you take alook at k98 there is alot more k98 then there are svt 40 but the supply dried up and the price went right up, a few years ago you could get a k98 for a couple hundred bucks but now that the supply has dried up the price went up, same with garands and other guns.
 
Well i dont want to be side tracked by the discussion of desecrating a peice of history , i want to turn a otherwise plain rifle into one that could be more ergonomic and efficent , therfore making a more effective platform i believe the best way to do this is by having a pistol grip and better than iron sights . Would not that help ?

Also im just replacing the stock , not cutting the barrel or otherwise changing anything mechanical .
 
To answer the original question, the SVT40 is not very common in the US. You are paying $1,000 for one these nowadays. At that price nobody is going to turn it into a tacticool configuration. As the US is the biggest market for this kind of thing, in th SVT rifle, there just wouldn't be enough in sales to bother developing and manufacturing an aftermarket stock. Canda just isn't a big enough market.
The SVT is not really a great hunting rifle so most people wouldn't bother with it. ( I know, I know. Some would.)
