Hi, everyone i just purchased a new safe and im looking for some sort of system to hang my pistols on the back of the door, I dont want to do anything like drill hooks on to it, and im not a fan of the velco gun holders, so I was wondering if theres some sort of strap with hooks I can wrap around the back cover of the doors. I'm open to any ideas, as long as its cheap and not something that can be removed,

Thanks Guys

Just use the hooks that screw in. Far more secure and the holes aren't that bad. Besides if you have pistols why would you ever remove the hooks?

I'm using hooks on my own safe door and it's a superb way to make use of the space that isn't being used by the rifles and shotguns. We paid for the volume of protection so why not use as much as possible of it.

In my case I've got my pistols in fabric sleeves with loops both for hanging them and for protection in my group carry case. The sleeves makes haning them up much easier.

I did the same thing only I removed the panel from the door and drilled and used the threaded version of the hooks (nut on the back). I bought them at Home Depot for a about 5 bucks and they work great. I have 7 12(6) pistol/revolvers out of the way.

You could try and make some thing using rare earth magnets!
That would be the last thing to do IMO. Steel parts become magnetized. Any tiny shavings from regular wear will become a real b*tch to remove. Trust me on this: I used a magnetic tool holder once.

I screwed a piece of plywood to the door and screwed the pegs onto that. I also put a gun rack on it to hold my 14 inch 870. On the side I did the same thing and hang my 10.5 inch LMT ar by the single point sling. That keeps them out of the way of the longer guns. I keep all my hanguns in a proper floor safe.

Well, you could epoxy a rare earth magnet onto a wooden hook of some sort, so the firearm never comes in contact with a magnet....that was more my thought, just never explained it well enough......but I do see your point, and it is a good one at that!:D

Pistol storage

I used the top shelf of the Costco safe for pistol storage. The shelf is about 19" wide, so I drilled a line of 3/8" holes 1 1/2" apart 5" in from the edge of the shelf. Into each hole I glued a 6" piece of soft wood dowel. The shelf holds 9 handguns in an upright, butt-out position. If I decide that I don't like this arrangement, it would be easy to cut the dowels off and have the shelf intact.

These are great ideas...it would be more helpful if you actually had a picture to accompnay your posts!...especially for us conceptually challenged.

This gun cabinet already came with the "pegboard" built-in behind the door but you can just buy a wood pegboard and its accessories at Home Depot and attach.
