Lots of kits coming out for high end rifles to allow them to use 10 round AR pistol mags. Hk, Swiss Arms etc... Will it ever happen for the mini-14?

HK SL8s have a conversion kit, a new Swiss arms lower is in the works, even the CSA rifle (CZ 858 in 5.56) is supposed to have a kit to allow the use of Ar 10 round mags. Seems like the Mini is the only one left out of the mix. I was just curious why.

The only thing really keeping me from picking up a mini is the 5 round, stupidly expensive mag problem. I see that there is some talk of getting some more reasonably priced mags in Canada, but with only 5 you can't really use it for competition, and the fun is over before it really starts.

mags

Many years ago I thought there was a mag avail. that worked in both the mini and AR. I think there was only a small catch that you replaced to change the direction from forward pressure to release mag to sideways movement, darned old age can't remember who made it though---@ 20yrs ago last time I heard of such a thing

I've got an old SIR catalogue somewhere that has those mags listed in it. Apparently, it was designed to work in the AR-15, Mini-14, and AR-180. I haven't really heard how the reliability was, though.

Yes those multi-use mags were made by American Eagle if I recall correctly. I won one years ago at a shoot and had nothing to use it in. I gave it to a friend who had a Mini 14 and it didn't work worth crap...He gave it to a friend who had an AR and it was worse... Who knows, maybe it would have been fine in a 180...

I recall I had one of those mags...but don't ask me who made it. It did say it fit both.

I think those were made by ramline, and those mags are known for their poor reliability.
