Pistol mags

Just an odd question from a long time gun owner but new to actually owning restricteds. Just bought a DA 1911 from Canada Ammo the other day (fantastic email comma btw) and was curious if 1911 mags are swappable between various makes of the same 1911 frame?

Also can anyone recommend a good entry level holster?

AFAIK as long as they are for the same caliber you're GTG.
I know the mag for my 9mm will fit in my 45 and vicea versa. Thank goodness the followers are different colours.

Yes you can but some will work better than other for no apparent reason. I bought a couple dlask 8rounders from Can Am and they perform flawlessly so far (300 rnds or so). As for holsters try the EE or gun shows! enjoy the 1911!
