Hello:

Do the markings on the lock mean something or are they just markings ?

The pistol is about 60 cal, 7 3/4" barrel and very comfortable to hold.

Thanks for your input and take care

the gun looks to me like it was made in India as a souvenir gun. The markings on the top of the barrel make me think that the barrel might be an original and lock also. The markings on the lock look like decorative squiggles to me. The stock, trigger guard, and the side plate (on the side opposite the lock) all look of recent fabrication

Is that front band made out of coiled copper wire? Definitely has asian/middle eastern flavour to it.

I will stick with the "made in India" opinion although I am waffling on the age of the stock. I think you would be wise to check the integrity of the breach plug before you shoot it and duct tape the barrel only to a 2 x 4 and fire with a fuse a couple of times before shooting it by hand. There cannot be many threads engaged in the breach plug. Many older guns seemed to have very few threads engaged but that one seems particularly short to the vent hole
