Pistol or Revolver?

pistols: all steel frame, all hammer strike, SA and DA/SA

revolvers: all stainless steel, SA and DA/SA ... maybe Santa will bring me an old skool deep blued S&W 19 or 27

I've been a revolver guy for over 20 years, love them. Just got my first auto a month ago. I discovered as a hand gun enthusiast you kinda have to have both because i like 44 special so in order to shoot it you need a revolver. Likewise i like 45acp,gotta have a semi for that. Definitely still like revolvers better right now, no loading or reliability issue ever. Semi auto is a deal where they get better with time. Revolvers shoot great out of the box and perfectly as you use them, they don't ever seem to change.

My 2 cents

All my pistols since I started range shooting years ago have been semi auto's for the simple fact that I find them easier to use and handle. At least a pistol has 10+ rounds in it instead of revolvers with 6 or 8.

Well, I had to do some mental arithmetic on this....I guess I'm about a 30% pistol 70% revolver person. All my guns are steel, no polymer, most of the pistols are Sig DA/SA hammer fired, though a couple of the others are striker. As for revolvers, predominantly double actions of the Colt and S&W variety, one Ruger in the batch. Three of the Colts are single action, though I very rarely shoot them. That's the way I collect them, love me a nice revolver.

As for shooting....easily 90% is done with a Sig P226/P229/P220 in 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP. The revolver shooting I do tends to be in .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, or .44 Magnum. Although lately, I have had this hankering to get back into rimfire plinking. I picked up a S&W Model 41 recently, and it is quickly becoming a darling.

I like guns.

I chose not to choose and own them all! In the end an all steel semi pistol would be the last one in my safe but I would miss the SA and DA revolvers big time!

After doing the math I'm about 60/40 in favor of revolvers. All steel, absolutely no polymer beside my duty pistol that doesn't belong to me anyway. Out of the revolvers, about 1/3 are single action. Out of the pistols, about 1/3 are striker fired.

How can you claim to be a "revolver man" if you don't list at least one S&W or Colt?

Ruger has all i need, a friend of mine swapped GP100 and 586 for a month....we traded back and both complained about the triggers. I have shot the others but prefer what im used to!

I also find the shape of the smith back strap bites my hand a bit.

Ruger is a proven brand and I like it!

Pistol:
Metal/Hammer SA - 6 (.22, .32S&WL, 9mm, .45acp)
Poly/Striker - 1 (9mm)

Revolver:
DA/SA - 1 (.38spl)

So it seems that I’m firmly in the pistol group by volume owned and quantity shot. Funny enough, the one that always puts a smile on my face is the revolver, an excellent shooting if cosmetically worn S&W K38. The top items on my handgun “to buy” list are both also revolvers; an MR38, and a Colt SAA. So I suppose I’m a pistol guy, but want to be a revolver guy?
