I am flying to Edmonton this weekend and having one ##### of a time finding powder to reload my .357 mag.
I found a couple lbs of Vihtavuori N320 online for my other reloads but was wondering if someone knew of anywhere in Edmonton that was having any luck stocking pistol powder. I have tried P&D but they are out. Getting an answer from the big box stores is impossible.
I only have 1.5 days to run around and collect stuff cuz it has to be shipped up on the barge and was hoping you folks might have some idea where I could maybe call before hand to get it purchased so I could just pick it up.
I am armed with a Visa card and not afraid to use it. :)

I'd suggest P&d. If you're looking for a one stop firearms related 'shopping' center, they're pretty well set up. I make it a definite stop whenever I'm in the city visiting. They are a site sponsor here as well.

I believe any gunpowder is prohibited on aircraft but P&D will ship. Suggest getting some IMR 4227 or H110. Saw some 4227 at P&D and some H110 at south side Cabelas not that long ago.

I work for a trucking company that runs loads up on barge so I want to stock up so I can make it through until the bush road opens in January.
I don't get it. You can have 5kg of ammo in your checked baggage but cant have a pound of powder. If something happens to the plane a little powder isn't gonna make that much difference.

The powder is insanely flammable. It's easy to light and very difficult to put out, since it has its own oxidizer. When it's packed in cartridges it's protected by a thick wall of brass, lead and copper, so it's a little harder to ignite :) It's also sectioned out into small quantities, so even if one cartridge did happen to go off, the rest of the powder in the rest of the cartridges would probably be safe.

Imagine a 1 lb jug of powder going up in the baggage compartment.
