My father called me today and stated that a him and a friend were casually chatting and the word got out that my dad has taken to IPSC so his friend says that he has a Para Ordnance .40 that he shot once a few years back but really doesnt enjoy anymore...

So my dad tells him id be interested in purchasing it

But hell we all know i would..

My question is sight un-seen what would a good price be for this piece?

All the guy knows is that its a .40 calibre para ordnance 1911 platform...

I bought a Para SSP .45 caliber in 2007 and have put maybe 1500 rounds through it. It has never malfunctioned. Not even once. Could be it's one of the better ones, I don't know. I'd wait until some more comments come in. Oh ya. I bought it at Wild West Shooting at WEM.

Try before you buy... if it works reliably and you like it go for it. The Para's have been slagged a lot mainly the U.S. made ones..I don't know what to believe and I have never shot one or even seen one. I maintain my own guns so if something goes wrong I fix it myself... could be some Para owners don't have the ability to take care of issues as they come up and blame the gun instead of fixing it.
This is all speculation.

I agree with Skinny, why don't you ask the seller if you could try it, say shoot 500 rounds through it.
After all, the seller is a friend, right?

If you're still happy after shooting 500 rounds, buy it.

My own good experience with Para is very limited. Had a Para high cap frame kit and fitted a "hard" machined slide and bar-sto barrel. No issues with it, but then only shot a few hundred rounds through it.

Really hit and miss. Try before you buy. I have a 2007 Limited (single action)that runs perfectly, almost to well. Had a 2005 DAO Limited that should have been called MIA!

I currently have a para LDA 9mm have about 1800rds through it with no issues...

But i respect your guys thoughts i believe you with the hit and miss....
