Is it just me, or has the average price of pistols come down sharply in the last 2 years? It seems me that the average price of your brand name 9mm handguns was around $1200 2-3 years ago. Now I see things going for $600.

Stronger CAD vs weaker USD helps alot, as does the increased competition between dealers here in Canada...... all makes for many happy shooters :D

Need to tell it to the guys selling used guns with 3000-4000 rounds through them in the EE and asking more than new retail!:)

No doubt. I'm always laughing at the "includes 6 mags, plus holster, plus original box and manual - now only 30% more than retail! Buy it now while you still can!"

Maybe part of it is that some of these guys bought their guns at a 65 cent Canadian dollar.

Original box and manual? Cleaning brush? Maybe if we are talking about a WWI Luger or something, but not a gun that was made 3 years ago. If the person doesn't still have the box and manual I'd really be wondering what the story is with that gun.

Haha... I never understood the whole 'original box' thing either. Who cares? How many times do you store a pistol in the box it came with? Never? Well, I don't anyway...

Well, it's their loss. It's not like anyone's going to be all antsy to buy their used rig when they can get brand new for the same or less.

shortage of handguns?

Seems to me there is a real or contrived shortage of handguns in Canada.

Like how many good shops can sell you a S+W 686 today. Most, at least by my bit of calling around do not have one to sell. Hence the big variation in prices.

Was the same last aug. when I bought my XD 9.

how guys rate thier used guns...

Is there a good link to the offical way to rate a used gun?

Did you see the revolver recently on EE the was "NIB" when the cylinder was so scored from liklely 1000 dry firings.

Long gun prices are definitely rising. I wonder if that's somehow related to long gun ammo climbing sharply also.

Ammo is climbing cause just about every kind of metal is in such high
demand the producers are press'd to keep up. The price spike is due
to the fact that non-north american countries are willing to pay more
for our metals, therefore they get first pick and the remaining product
is not sold cheap. The war going on doesn't help the lead/brass issue either.

I agree tho, pistol prices are coming down. A few years ago I remember
Glocks and Sigs (that I was look'n at) were almost on par with each other.
$1000 - $1200. Some Sigs are still up there but most not, Glosks have really
come down.

...WW

The high price of metal definately plays a role, so says the guys at WSS here in Lethbridge. I believe it too, especially when I see bills from my extruders increasing up 19% in one quarter :(
