Pistol shelves or something similar for a long gun safe?

I'm trying to figure out how to maximize hand gun storage.

I have one of the 'Brinks' safes that Costco used to sell in their warehouses.

Got a few long guns on ONE side of the safe.... but would like to figure out some sort of shelving - almost like 'in baskets- for the OTHER side to efficiently store pistols.

And since it is a 'safe', they don't actually have to be in cases.

Does anybody have any suggestions, either something they built themselves, or, better yet, something available at a retailer?

Thanks in advance!

If you Google "pistol racks" I think there are some that will stack. Most racks I've seen come 4/5/6/7 guns wide depending on how wide a space you have. I have a Stackon convertible safe that has a centre divider and 5 shelves on one side. 6 gun wide racks fit so I can store a maximum of 30 handguns. How many handguns are you looking to store?

thanks... was thinking about hangers also... because of the long guns only have about 1/2 the width of the safe to work with.

even something like this literature organizer

not hyperlinked

might work....

Check out the closet organizer section of your favorite home improvement store. You might find something that will fit and offer you shelving or baskets.

Just make it... measure out 4 pieces of wood for the corners of the safe, and put a shelve on top.

OR, get a pegboard in the back of your safe and use pegs to put the guns up obove the rifles.

Honestly just google for ideas. Tons of them around depending how specific you want to be, how much money you want to invest, and how clean you want it to look.

Some truth to that.

Unfortunately, TIME seems to be the biggest constraint.

Ended up with a couple of these:

Each rack comes with 2 rods- buy a pair and stack them.

Something like these might work for you:

Save on the actual surface space of the shelves you have.

I have those in my safe and they work really well. I would look at these before going much further. I should add they also have a neat idea for storing more long guns in your safe. Not sure why I have not chased their product down. When you are on their site take a look.

I have used one of these hanging shoe organizers with great success:

I hung it off the top shelf in my safe and laid handguns on each level. As my collection grew, I stored 2 pistols vertically in each section. Surprisingly strong, it held up for years until I got a new safe!
