This summer I have a few distractions that have been taking away my informal bullseye target pistol shooting range time.
Strangely enough my only fourth time to the 25 yard point yeilded some pretty darn reasonably good one handed results with my Hammerli.
I still desire to do a lot more trigger time at 50 and I used to dabble at 100 on good years as well in the not too distant pass, only to test myself.

I am kind of wondering if my hair pulling small hard stone nic nac projects are complimenting my ability to mentally focus at the gun range. Presently I have a jade project for close family and it's very stressful because this is a brand new universe for me and I find it intimidating somewhat.

Usually I have ten to twelve visits to the range before groups shrink.

Any you folks have any input??

Cheers

What do you need input on? Your future as a jade jeweller/artist or how to get your family to leave you the hell alone?

I definitely notice my shooting goes downhill if i am not in the right frame of mind. Our minds are interesting things and other stressors, even ones not apparent, can have profound affect on some of our other abilities.

One of the reasons why i always try and start each session of serious target shooting with fun relaxing shooting first.

You just have to set your priorities straight. What is more important? Go shooting or dealing with projects at hand. Personally Shooting is more important, but its just me.

In a perfect world I wish I could say the same. However when family matters intrude, a sentimental gift goes a long way for moral of aging parents into thier 90s. I have lots of time in my future to make up for it friend.

I’ve been super busy lately with work, a toddler son, home renos, destination and local wedding, etc. Lately, I find shooting days are for one of a few reasons. One is making triple sure my hunting gear is in top order and I’m staying comfortable with it. Two is probably just to maintain skills that I’ve learned before, like target pistol, etc and third, it’s just gunpowder therapy. If I don’t shoot for a month or two, some friends and I go out and make some noise. Last time was maybe 6 boxes of shotgun with a clay chucker, 150 rounds of .223 at steel only ~175 out, and about 50 rounds of .375h&h at various things to burn up some mixed handloads and put a smile on my face.
Life gets busy. It interferes with shooting skills, but I find going out and burning powder makes me in a better mental place for dealing with a busy life.
