Pistol storage at home

If it is marked as a safe, even if it is only on the sales slip which you will photocopy and leave a copy in the safe under the little mat, I think a Restricted can be stored in it unloaded, Period.

There is no definition in C-68 of what defines a "safe".

OP: Locked in a locked box satisfies the legal requirements.
Locked in a safe (no trigger lock required) satisfies legal requirements.

A "safe" is any product marketed as a safe.

It would be best to bolt that box to the wall (to a stud) so that it cannot be easily carried away. There should be holes in the back surface for this purpose.

Ever demolished a kitchen?

Whatever safe you go with, make sure to bolt it down. Bottom and back if possible.
Half the battle opening one is access

Short answer , yes that works ; although you really don't need to lock the pistols in the factory cases when stored in the safe . As someone else mentioned , might be wise to bolt your safe to something to prevent it from being easily carried away .

Not only is storing it in the original case not required, I would not recommend it if it has a foam insert.

I've been storing mine in the original case inside a safe for years without any issues. They all have foam inserts.

to the OP yes you meet the requirements and as suggested blot tht baby down

with key in another locked cabinet in different location
Best to do that a few levels further, just to be sure.

Get several more cabinets in different, well hidden locations, and lock the key in each from the previous one.
The key for the final cabinet would be best buried outside, in a three foot deep hole minimum. Needless to say, in a hard to access spot. Do not record the location of the hole with the final key in case the record falls into the wrong hands.

Would this work?

Pistols unloaded, trigger locked, in their case from manufacturer - locked. Stored away in a locked cabinet in my kitchen. No gun safes used.

Or could you guys recommend some larger storage gun safes? Would only be used for 3 pistols max.
I have that same box mounted and keep my air pistols locked in it. I am sure it would be 100% capable of doing the same thing for regular.
