I have one of those stack on 8 gun cabinets. Is there a civilized way of storing my pistols in it?

Any elegant solutions available out there?

I am not familiar with that cabinet.

Princess Auto sells a strong magnet with a hook on it. I use them to make hooks to hang up all sorts of stuff. They come in sets of 4, for about $4.00.

If you door has bare steel on the inside, the magnets might make good hooks to hang your pistols on by the trigger guard.

I purchased the compatible pistol cabinet that bolts to the existing 8 gun see image works for me
Amazon $ 87.79-$119.99

These hooks fit perfectly. You will find suitable hooks in the box.

I have the same stack-on cabinet. The door has perforations much like pegboard. The elegance of this solution is that the pistols are hung on the door and do not take up valuable space inside the safe, or on the shelf.

The downside is you can hang only 5/6 handguns depending on their size and accessories, or your creativity.

I don't use this cabinet for handguns anymore as you need to keep trigger locks on handguns if stored in a cabinet.

You can flip the top shelf upside down and lay 2-3 pistol in it with the trigger lock propping them up. Put some rubber mat on the metal surface and you're good to go

I bought handgun hangers from select shooting supplies (a site sponsor). They clip on your shelf and the rod goes in the barrel (the rod is plastic coated). I screwed a piece of plywood to the roof of the safe to mount the hangers above the actual shelf. I have sixteen handguns in the space that the shelf takes up

Princess Auto magnetic hangers opened up with pliers and a magnetic LED battery operated light.

If you have a top shelf in that cabinet just oil the pistols up and cut up an old terry cloth towel and wrap them up . oil them up good . I don't like hanging stuff like that in case the magnetic device gives up the ghost . nothing like seeing a prize handgun hitting the floor. make sure the area where you keeping your safe is dry . I went to a guys house who I used to work with to tell him the value of the firearms he had there plus what they were. they were his fathers. he then opened the door to the cold storage area under the front porch and dragged a stack on safe into the basement .

I almost had a stroke when he opened the safe. rust was starting to form on a mint Savage model 99 in 308 caliber. he said my girlfriend doesn't like guns . well when I left the safe was stored somewhere else.

A couple of weekends ago, wife was away so I decided to re-organize one of my safes. I was about to go and buy some materials to build a vertical pistol rack out of wood (I tried the metal ones but they're too narrow to store pistols with trigger locks attached). Before I bought the materials, I zipped by the storage section of my local Lowe's and found a shoe storage shelf with 15 little cubbies - each perfectly sized for a trigger-locked pistol and a mag or two. So now, 15 of my handguns each have their own spot (I'll try to post a pic later). The only one that didn't fit was one of my old Russian free pistols (barrel length and monster grips).

I did have to build the shelf inside the safe to make it fit - a minor pain, but it worked well.

If I hadn't gone this route, Lowe's also sold some other near hanging shelves that would have worked.

With that in mind, I test the magnets whenever I clean the guns. The minute one magnet can't hold the entire weight of the pistol, both will get replaced.
Hasn't happened yet...

Is it not advisable to just leave the pistol laying flat on its side and secured with the trigger lock inside the cabinet?

I mean is it better for the pistol if it is being stored upright with a barrel support?
