Pistol Suggestions for Young Son

I learned to shoot on a S&W 41 when I was 5 or 6; I do not remember the feel, but having on ein my hands now makes me think it was WAY too big.

If the Ruger fits him, get it for him. Whne he outgorws it, you will have the money to buy him a bigger gun. A guy brought his 7 year old to the range and asked to use a handgun; the smallest thing we had was my 617. He was not really paying attention all that much to his son; luckily I was. The gun had grips too big for him, a hammer reach too large, and too much muzzle weight which lead to the thing being pointed in every direction but the target. Get him waht fits him; he will enjoy it more, and it is safer for you.
