Pistol training courses Alberta

Just purchased my first pistol, waiting on transfer. I'm looking to compete in IPSC, and need a Black Badge course, there is one in Nov in, Taber AB. Looking for a bit of training before hand as Im a complete Newbe with pistols. Any help?
Going to join the local range ASAP, lethbridge AB. Any other courses worth trying before hand? Would like to get some kind of proper instruction before taking the BB course.

Walter's BB course will teach you what you need, right from noob status. If you talk to him about it he can explain.

Just get to the range and practice with your pistol. Make sure you understand how everything works, the magazine release, slide stop, safety, so the is no trying to remember which is which. Don't do any holster work in case you teach yourself bad habits. If you find another course go for it, but Walters BB will cover everything you need. I am pretty sure Lethbridge still has a league night. Join the club and then see if you can get out to league night. There are some very experienced shooters and I am sure more than one would be willing to help you out with some basics.

I wish I had taken my black badge before I had developed a few bad habits.
Walter is a Great guy and knows IPSC very well, reach out to him before your course and let him know your fresh meat, and he will mold you into a bacon statue of accuracy!
