Pistol Training in Southern Ontario – WHYNOT?!

Just getting back into pistol shooting after a 15-year absence from my military days and am extremely eager to get some good training and cannot believe there is absolutely NOTHING in southern Ontario other than safety or licensing courses. I am a local (indoor) gun club member and have my restricted PAL, but yearn for some outdoor tactical or practical training that is affordable. I have crunched the numbers many times and the costs of attending US places such as Camden, TN, Gunsite in Arizona, Frank’s place in Frostproof, FL, the US Shooting Academy in Tulsa, OK, Gabe Suarez in California, etc…. I will be taking the Black Badge course soon for IPSC but still want more than this offers. I am interested in learning from a professional instructor such as Todd Jarrett or others in his league.

Crunching the numbers it is usually at least 5000 to 6000 USD to go away for a week to a 2-5 day course with my wife which is kinda nuts, not to even talk about the hassle of taking guns stateside and the required paperwork and fees.

I am more than willing to set something up and get someone to come to Ontario but I would need a place to host, such as Barrie Gun Club, Sharon, or Islington Sportmans Club or other outdoor facility that would allow all-day noise. I am sure there has to be an interest for this with so many members on this board but no one is taking the lead from what I can tell (please correct me if I am wrong!…. I would imagine the course would cost around $300 to $600 per person per day. I would need a few things from you guys and gals: a place to host (any outdoor club Board members here with authority?) and a show of interest. Once there is enough interest and the commitment of a place to host, I could start contacting people south of the Border to potentially come here to teach. I would imagine a group of 8-12 participants maximum for a two-day basic course, and perhaps following with a two or three-day advanced course.

Anyone anyone…Bueller Bueller……
