I tried to find videos of them because written stories don't convince me at all. All I can find is Torture Tests that consist of shooting 1000 rounds of ammo without a stop. WOW a gun functioned! Where can I buy it??!!! Bunch of crap. Take any Glock out f the box, swap out the slides back plate for a Magic Button that converts it to select fire. You can burn through 1000 rounds in a couple minites. Big deal. Real world torture only counts when calling a gun tough.

Would you seriously choose a stock out of the box 1911 in the same price range as a Glock, and a random pick of a box of any factory ammo HP's and willingly stake your survival on the combo?

Thats probably because 1911 have killed more people than any handgun on the planet, see the people who were issued them were busy shooting rather than conducting tests of what not to do with a gun. I bought my car because its classy, fast, and reliable. Not because it has the best crash testing record, otherwise everyone would drive a KIA Soul lmao. All a gun needs to do is shoot. There are always idiots out there burying it in sand or sticking it in a can of peanut butter, maybe that impresses people. Not me,I just want to point and shoot. Also when im out of ammo, my gun is still a heavy weapon. Maybe another reason is, nobody want's to f&&% up a 1911, whereas the most expensive glock is what? $899?

Please try and find any links where a 1911 survives a serious torture test. And soldiers used 1911's in the USA because there was nothing else being issued to them!:p

Let's see, since you used a historical reference how's this?

Sherman Tank, made in USA.

Glock, made in Austria.

Using your WWII era reference one could conclude that had the Austrian Glock been made in WWII Austria it would have been made in Germany essentially because Germany annexed Austria. It may have even been the first country because Hitler was Austrian. So I guess that leaves us comparing tanks to tanks. History proves the Sherman was junk but enough were mass produced to eventually overwhelm the far superior German/Austrian machines and guns they carried.

But a better comparison can be made today. Drop both pistols off a building. I bet the Glock still works and the 1911's slide won't even rack. Or just take any 1911 and subject it to Glocks' grueling durability tests.....'nuff said.:nest:

Dorp a GLOCK off that building after its been out in -25,-30 for a few days first, and get back to us.;)

The Sherman was junk? maybe under gun,and under armoured at times, but could go farther and faster, and cross more bridges then its Kraut counterpart,

and what about electric driven turret, faster then jerrys to get on target, read a book.

and I like both Glocks and 1911,they're both proven.

My humble opinion is there should be two areas, one for the timeless classic accurate revolvers and another one for those nasty brass spewing unreliable and ugly auto pistols...:nest::eek:

Agreed. Wheelguns have been around a helluva lot longer than 1911's and are generally more accurate, can use way way way more powerful ammo and are reliable. Let's see 8 shot .357 mag vs a 7+1 1911? No contest.

Drop a 1911 off that same roof at ANY temp...yada yada yada

Ok gotcha. Delicate and killed the most people......

The most realistic part of the entire movie Saving Private Ryan is near the end when the Sgt. pulls his .45 1911 and it jams after a shot or two so he throws it at the kraut (someone elses choice of words on here). Gotta hand it to Speilberg for looking after the smallest detail:nest:

"Probably" is "probably" right as not for sure. My money is on the Tokarev. I did a little Googling.

glocks are generally alone in the ''perfect pistol'' class. they defenatly deserves their own threads...they never break, function perfectly under water and drowned in sand, and the trigger has been made so you can make it custom to your liking:D.

no other guns come even close to the glock perfection..:nest::D;)

He actually runs it empty & the slide locks back. Having no more mags he throws it at the German because it's useless at that point.

The same could be said of any pistol under the circumstances.
