Just thought I'd post a pic of a couple of "atypical" rifles - my M96 (with the recon length gas system, 2" shorter than the expeditionary rifle & has an 18.5" barrel) & my new Swiss Black special carbine with NEA lower. Cheers!

A nice pair indeed!:)

Thanks guys - yeah they are both nice (I've had the M96 for years now - put over 8K rounds through the original barrel & gas system - this barrel has about 1000 rounds through it - took that many to shake out the shorter gas system & now it cycles really smoothly) - it's nice that it's non-restricted, makes it easy to shoot alot.

I only have around 300 rounds through the swiss carbine, but it handles really well - The NEA lower is really nice, they do a great job on all their swiss stuff.

I'll probably put some basic optics on them, but for now I'm actually enjoying shooting them with irons (its been a looong time since I shot much with irons)

we need more pictures of that m96!

That swiss looks great with the ubr stock on it, the lines really work well together.

Heh heh - you should know Raytheon - I've upgraded it quite a bit, but the M96 was yours once upon a time!

I'll see if I can get a couple of more pics up - I'll be putting a 1-4X scope on it for SR (I've had all kinds of stuff on it over the years for both SR & CQB)

The AR stock adapter for the M96 came with it - not sure who makes it - this was years ago (bought it used of course).

Yeah - the NEA lower is great - I think it's nicer than the original swiss lower & it really goes well with the UBR - it feels "right" & handles nicely

I'll be throwing some optics on them both soon & I'll get some more pics up

Cheers!

I saw some pics of AR stocks on the NEA lowers for the Swiss Arms stuff, and wasn't crazy about it, but the UBR is actually a lot more aesthetically pleasing on these rifles.

Shoots well enough for SR/SRCQB which is what I've been using it for the past few years - 2-3" groups @ 100m. It's heavy (11lbs fully loaded) but well balanced.

Generally very reliable (2 shooting seasons w/o any failures - 3000 rounds) - but took me about 1000 rounds to shake out the new barrel, bolt & gas system - had some issues at one of the earlier Borden matches this past spring - I made the shortened gas system myself. Runs like a top now.

I use it for SR & use the Swiss carbine for CQB (although I do like the M96 for CQB as well, so I'll probably switch back & forth to keep the mileage low on the carbine)
