Pitted bore

Some of my best shooters have pitted bores.

I have a turk Mauser that I bought several years ago. The bore was rough and as dark as I've seen. After shooting it on and off for a couple years the bore looks pretty good now. Might I add that rifle will do 1 to 1.5 moa if I do my part.

I have a 1917 Amberg Gewher 98 my brother in law pulled up from the bottom of the ocean in his cod net. Stock was rotted and looked burnt. All matching parts. Should have kept what was left of the stock but I disposed of it and now the rifle sits on an Israeli 7.62 stock. Had to put a new bolt on it cause the original had a chunk missing on the bolt face and the firing pin was broken, rear site was also a mess. Metal was severely pitted both inside and out. So I did the verboten and de-pitted the rifle and reblued it. Won several Military Rifle Shoots at our club with it.
