Seeing as Remembrance Day is on the way I thought I would share a very pitted BYF44 "a" block Mauser 98k.

This is a Recently restored rifle that came to me as a sporter. Stock is a replacement Waffenamp AC10 Stock found online.

The rifle has been neglected some time in its past and the rear sight has some heavy pitting.
Rear sight is stuck on 100 meter setting. I might try some penetrating oil and tap it with a mallet to free it.

Thankfully bore is like a 6/10 and will get tested with some FN Surplus ammo hopefully some time this month.

I would take the sight leaf off the gun and soak it in break fluid
The three part slider is probably rusted together

Acetone and atf for a week, stir it every little while that stuff will cut through anything, put it in a container it won’t eat through, and don’t use your wifes good Tupperware, I’m still in trouble for that, and make sure it has a top or the acetone evaporates
