Kind of hard getting my guns clean these days, and living in an apartment
Doesnt make it easier. Wife doesnt like me playing with my guns for a long
Duration of time and plus, its hard keeping the balcony clean! But most important,
I dont want my daughter near the cleaning crap. Its outside, but i just dont want her near the guns when they smell of cleaning chemicals.

so i am thinking of taking them to work to clean up in my workshop... Is it
Possible get a second address listed on my license or permits? I wont keep them
At work but having a metal shop work place is just he right place to do it. :)

I called rcmp but most of the time, i get someone who cant answer my question.
Does anyone ve a similar thing going on??

The smell of Hoppes #9 Builds character... Its good for kids....

Poor kids are so sheltered these days...

They probably inhale more toxic fumes when they're in the car and you stop at the gas station to fill up...

If you're concerned, invest in some respirators, or switch to a non toxic cleaner...

Use froglube or clean in a different room to be perfectly honest dont shove your gun under your daughters nose. Just clean and put back in safe/case im sorry if I sound like a #### but this seems like a stupid problem.

take you cleaning supplies to the range with you ,see people cleaning there all the time.If you can't get a staight answer from the canadian firearms center ,chances all you may get here is an opinion ,Cheers

Check with your range first ... the ones that I've been to don't allow cleaning onsite ... right in the rules/bylaws ...

I had the same problem when I got a new surplus gun that needed the cosmo cleaned off. I would get a ATT to go to my brothers house and clean them there since he has a nice detached shop. It would be kind of a pain to do this for normal cleaning though. I asked if I could get his address added to my LTATT but they said no, I had to get a STATT every time.

When I last checked, my CFO (AB) did not allow multiple addresses. Never hurts to ask though.

Use any Simple Green type cleaner (non toxic and non corrosive). I use Mountain Equipment Coop "Bio-Cycle Chain Cleaner" because it's cheap and it works better than anything else I've tried. Apply lube using a dropper or a rag, NOT aerosol. Just those two things should address your health concerns.

Thanks for the info. This was actually the answer i was looking for. I know how you feel about cleaning the crap out of
Your gun. Its not like i am using a small amount sparringly to clean my gun like some people in this thread assume. I am using
A lot and i can probably do a better cleaning at my shop than on a balcony. Plus, even though i like the smell of gun cleaner,
It just about all we can smell in the apt after i am done. And to the guy who says its ok with your kids to smell chemicals; i am ok
With a reasonable amount(my dad drove me to school in a truck filled with gasoline chemicals and machines), but my kid is only two
Months. I feel that warrants my opinion. And no, i am not cleaning in the same room my kid is in...*sigh* Holy #### guys... Give me some credit
Anyways, Thanks for the tips on the frog lubeeveryone . I will look into that as well!

+1 for Froglube. My wife loves that she doesn't have to smell Breakfree CLP anymore.

As for cleaning firearms at home, I would just do it when my wife was out. When our daughter was born, I would do it when she was asleep. Fortunately, my wife got comfortable with guns over the years. She now shoots my AR and my S&W mod 66 (very well I might add).
