Places to shoot around cultus lake in Chilliwack?

i go to the top of vedder mtn, end of the road and hike in a bit. safe to shoot my shotgun with birdshot. no one bothers me and i don't bother them. I'm above all the mtn bike trails too

I would recommend somewhere up near Chilliwack Lake as your safest place to play if you're planning on being there during a busy hot summer weekend... You can google pretty easily a Fraser valley hunting map to find legal areas of discharge... With some exploring you may be able to find somewhere out in Columbia valley.

I agree with chilliwack lake road, check the regs for special no discharge areas (I seem to recall a 400 meter buffer out the stretch to the lake and around the prison camps)

Bumping this up. I am going to go camping at Cultus Lake in mid July during the week and want to bring my ATRS rifle to shoot preferably with some distance. I know there are now new rules and regulations, but any idea where I should go. I have a Honda Pilot so I can go light off roading hahaha, and also bringing my bicycle as well. Thanks!

Cultus lake is not a good area as theres very few if any crown land areas where you would be allowed to shoot that rifle. A lot of the land around the back area of the lake into columbia valley is privately owned. You may be able to get up vedder mountain road and find a few areas that you'd be OK in but it would be all forest and i think you'd be lucky to find 30 clear yards to shoot, not to mention there are a LOT of ATVs and dirt bikes up in that area in the summer.

Your best bet for close to that area is to hit some of the back roads off of chilliwack lake road, you'll have to drive at least 20-25 mins from the chilliwack lake rd turn off to find an area where discharge will be allowed for target shooting.

You can continue up the chilliwack-tamahai forest service road, if you go back far enough you'd be in the clear, but for long range target shooting its hard to find a good area.

Darn, I thought that would be the case. Guess I'll just leave my rifle at home then. I haven't been able to take it out and only been shooting my hand gun so I have an itch to shoot it and thought this time would be a good time to do so. Guess I'll wait till Mission club starts accepting new applications.

Going
Camping this week, was wondering if there was any crown land around Cultus lake area in chilliwack that I could shoot my rifle.

I would suggest you go to Reliable Gun ( a site sponsor btw ) and look at their home page as there is a large free information map there on where one can and can not shoot in Region 2.
Asking if it is ok here on the forum and not doing the leg work is a sure fire recipe for disaster for those who do not do their own home work.
I see brad33 went a step further and provided the link with the information......
Best Regards,
Rob
