Plain receiver/vent rib barrel

I have trouble bending my long neck to get my head down on my 870,can I install a vent rib barrel on a plain receiver and would I need to put a sight on the receiver or will my eye just sight down the vent rib?
Anyone ever do this? Yes I know I could buy a new gun.

You can put a vent rib barrel on and it may help some.
I fixed the same problem with my 870 with a Graco adjustable comb and adjustable buttplate. It works well for me.

You'd be much better off getting the stock adjusted to fit you.

I made a sheet metal shim, inserted between the stock and the reciever, to drop the heel slightly. It was enough to bring my 870 to a natural alignment for me. A shim and/or lengthing the stock (thicker recoil pad) might do the trick.

I removed the stock and used an exacto on the mating surface to add drop and cast off,then used a belt sander to lower the comb where my cheek bone hits. Bubba would be proud but it's still not enough.
