Planning on relaoding

I believe (read as I KNOW) I am getting some reloading equipment for X-mass and wanted to start getting some of the components so I can start ASAP.

Bullet weight...

I shoot a Remington 700 SPS (upgraded stock) in .223 with a 1:9 twist.

What is the heaviest bullet load I should be able to stabilize?

I plan on using Varget powder, as well as Remington casings to start off with.

Primers, probably the usual CCI stock is fine.

69 gr SMK's or Nosler 69 gr J4's will work. You might also try 75 gr Amax or 75 gr Hornady HPBT's.

69gr is the ideal weight for 1-9" twist.
I wouldn't buy more than one box of 75gr to test out since i'm not sure if your rifle will stabilize them.

Thanks guys, will pick up a box of 75's and a box of 69's. Gonna be hard having all this stuff with no equipment to assemble it until Xmas

I use hornady 53grain in my savage with a 1:9 twist. Shoots great mighty accurate
