plans for a bolt jig

Didn't know that was the procedure.

Cutting the handle down to a nub then boring out some soft jaws and turning it down would make more sense than fabricating a jig..
That's if turning it down is even necessary?

bolt jig

i saw this ad in aold brownells cat and they said aplan for jig was included i ordered out of the new one and the instruction sheet said to grind it off you then thread it for the new knob.thats a lot sanding belts and i want round so ican thread it

Cut off the knob with a cutoff wheel in the dremel. Then sand the shaft so that it is round and the size you want for cutting the thread on. Thread the shaft and thread on your over size bolt knob.

Or a CNC machine and a thread mill. You need to turn the bolt knob into a threaded stud or the bolt handle will end up too weak or too short to function properly.

After a google search for tactical bolt knobs or something close, I found a vendor that sold knobs AND posted a .pdf of the installation instructions on their website. Their product was a long knob with a female thread, and like the other postings indicate, screwed onto threads cut in the bolt handle. CGN's machinists have filled in the how-to details just as I remember from the instructions.
