Hi all. I am brand new at loading and I have a question.
So I am reloading .45 acp and I was able to grab some copper plated tc bullets that are 200g. The only powder I could find was CFE pistol. The hogdon website states that plated should be the same data as cast bullets. Is this true? As the only data I can find for 200g states that starting loads should be 7.4g of powder for cast lswc. That is the only cast bullet data they have for 200g. Is that a lot of powder for starting loads?
I just did a batch of 230g fmj rn and the starting load was 6.0g of CFE. Just seems to me that that is quite a jump in gns. Or is it just my inexperience showing? Any help would be appreciated!

i would start with 7gr based on the 2 loads from hodgdon's website for a 200gr bullet using CFE pistol and work up from there up to a max of 8.2gr.

i used jacketed data for plated or cast data to make an average load i think will work.

Berrys bullets says their plated bullets are good up to 1200 fps, and their heavy plated bullets are good for higher than that. 45 acp is a slow bullet, you will be ok with most jacketed data. Use velocity as your guide, not bullet composition
