I am thinking about ordering some plated bullets is this a do or a don't do. I heard the plating likes to peel off. Others have said no not a problem. Then I heard accuracy issues. anyone tried plated bullets.

Depends on what velocities you are loading for. Rainier says 1200 fps max for their plated bullets. I'm loading around 1100 fps and see no peeling problems. That is not a full magnum load. If you load full magnum 357, use full metal jacket or jacketed hollowpoints, instead of plated.

Groups about 4 inches at 25 meters in my S&W 686 .357.

No problems with the Frontier plated bullets. These are available from Marstar and other retailers. However, I rarely exceed 1050 FPS.

The only ones I've used so far were the El Cheapo Excel bullets. There's a reason they aren't in business anymore. I've heard a lot of good things about the AIM bullets, if I could buy them here without paying shipping, I would.

Plated bullets are the way to go. I shoot .44 mag or should I say .429" plated 240gr 1600 and change fps out in my Desert Eagle 440 corbon barrel No problem

Not only do I use AIM .40s, I drive them with 10mm brass, mostly with simple Titegroup mid-power loads (not usually over 6 grains) but also on occasion with heavy loads of 800x, in a Glock with, of course, polygonal rifling.

I have pushed them over 1200 fps and haven't noticed any problems. That does not guarantee nobody else will have problems, but I haven't.

Only on the "off-shore" ones. Those also vary in weight too much and there are a lot of undersized ones in a box. But they were still better than Excel who are now out of business.

Sorry, I am lucky to have access to Campro where I am. They are great. Outside of Montreal, I don't know where you can get those, except maybe direct from them.

There are other brands made here in North America that are supposedly really good, too.

As to copper plating material peeling off; I'm shooting the 124 grain 9mm's out of my .38 Super @ just under 1400 fps, and that is my match load for level III's. No peeling.

Has anyone tried the Aim plated projectilles for 40 cal.

Used 180 grn Aim projectiles in .40 S&W. My loads average 1000 fps using Longshot powder. Pleased with their accuracy and cleanliness. Of the 1000 I have loaded so far, never noticed a problem of plating rubbing off. Am also molding my own 175 grn SWC lead heads using a Lee 6 cavity mold. Pretty accurate but does smoke (tumble lubed). Will use the Aim stuff for match loads and continue practicing with lead loads.

For those that use 9mm Frontiers 124 plated FLAT POINT, please share what charge you're using and OAL.

So far, I find it very accurate (better than me) at 4.4gn W231, 1.110 OAL. It doesn't lock slide back 90% of the time. I worked it up to 4.7gn and still won't lock slide and chickened out going higher. But I'm noticing zero signs of over pressure.

With cast lead bullets, I'm already getting hint of flat primers at 3.9gn, 1.070" with my Lee TL-356-124-TC casts. It locks slide 50% of the time. It should cycle well at 4.0gn, but the primers get flat. But I noticed getting flat primers firing American Eagles.

This is for my Sig P226.
