Hey Guys
I bought my daughter a Ruger Mark 3 .22 a while back, we have been shooting it quite a bit lately with no issues at all with feeding it anything and it cycles everything. However I just picked up a Remington Bucket o'bullets and now we are having hot powder blowing back out of the action onto our hands and face as well as down the mag well. I have tried them in my GSG 1911 .22 with no issues at all. What would cause this, should we be concerned? The gun is cleaned after every session and like I said works perfect with everything else we feed it.

Before I get flamed YES we both wear CSA shooting glasses and hearing protection.

There's nothing wrong with the gun, it's the ammo.

The timing in a direct blowback gun like the Ruger is like that. The the bolt comes back while there's still some chamber pressure in the barrel. And it's apparently not burning the powder that well so that's what you're feeling. Any ammo will kick the bolt back where there is still some residual pressure. But you don't normally feel it if the blowback is just gases and some powder ash. This stuff is just stinging you with unburned granules of powder.

Cheap ammo is cheap for a reason my friend. Bulk CCI blasers have served me well in all the guns I shot it. Hard to find nowadays but I'm gonna try some federal american eagle I just got the other day. A bit pricey at 45$ for 400 rounds but it's all I could find locally.

I get blowback with Blazers and CCI Minimags as well. Wear glasses, try to find ammo it prefers - not much else you can do.

Barnard, why change the title to "Please Delete"? This could well help someone else in the future that comes up with the same issue. Please leave it as it is.
