Beautiful Shotgun The unfortunate part is it is likely a 2 3/4'' gun that will hurt the saleability sum what as a field gun the up side is the condition and all documents $800-$1100 would be realistic .All that being said it is worth what someone is willing to pay .?
The wood on that gun makes me feel it may be a Japanese made Auto 5. The round knob grip looks out of sync with the round knob style of the day. The barrels are Belgian. Do they both have lightening holes drilled in the barrel ring? Not denying your claim just curious.
Yep definately Blegian barrels. Is there a chance the wood was replaced with Japanese Browning wood? And of course the barrels are stamped made in belgium.
I don't know the full history of this firearm, but the condition of the stock does match the rest of the firearm. Any info would be helpful so i can list this and get a fair price also making a collector proud to have this in their collection.
Does the butt palte have just the word BROWNING or is there some scroll work and the letters FN anywhere on it? I have looked around alot the last few days and I have seen at least three types of wood that was used in the aearly 1960's. One word BROWNING butt plates (plastic) are japaneses made guns. OOPs sorry Ken that gun says "Twenty" that means it was made before they made the Magnum twenty and definately a Belgian gun. I would estimate value in case with two barrels at 1200.00 + or - 100.00
P.S. I have a list to ID the ser# if that would help also. ( just need the first two letters)
Went to the Browning web site and OZ is not listed as an issued ser# for the A5. If the gun was produced in late '50 or early '60 it should start with a G for Lightweight gun. M would be for a standard gun. Strange...
it is a very nice gun .but as a shooter it has a few things against it ,one is the lack of choke tubes the other being it is not a 3 inch gun .so it would be a good gun for a collector if it fit his need does he have one or does he want one .as far as i can tell it does apear to be a belgian gun .i would put the value at between 700$ and 1100$ on a good day .you got to find the right guy for a gun like this .she is a nice gun DUTCH god luck
If you take the butt stock of the action very carefully it will say Belgium and it might hasve the sn or part of the sn number stamped in the cutaway as far as saying it is a replaced Butt stock or even a Japanned butt stock by looking at in on line you guys are simply guessing .
