My USGI fiberglass stock was painted by the previous owner, and I've tried everything I can think of to get the paint off. I could sand it, but that won't get it out of the nooks and crannies. I need the paint all gone so the bedding has a better chance to stick.

So what I'm hoping is that someone, hopefully in Calgary or nearby, or somewhere close enough that sending it express would get it here by Wednesday, so it's ready Thursday morning.

As I say, I know this is probably an EE thing, but I'm hoping the mod can let it fly for a day or two, just until Wednesday evening, at which point it won't matter anyways. I'll mark the thread for deletion myself.

If it really can't fly, I'm sorry for posting it here.

So what I'm looking for is a USGI wood, Boyd wood, or unpainted USGI fiberglass stock. Anyone who can help gets a cookie! Actually I've got some Varget I could trade for it, maybe some other powders too, depending on how nice the stock is. I also have some of those fiat paper iou's the bank of Canada has been printing, if you prefer that stuff (cash) instead of valuable commodities such as Varget :p

Hi I am in Calgary and a gunsmith that specializes in M1/M14 rifles. I have USGI stocks as well. A wood stock will bed way better than your fibreglass one. Anyways, feel free to call me on my cell 403-389-8790 and we can chat and perhaps I can help you out.

When Boyds had their m14 stocks on sale I picked up two, the regular and the USGI slim. I couldn't figure out what model I wanted so I ordered them both.

I've decided to go with the regular stock and put the usgi slim up on the EE. Very little difference between the two but I like the regular grip more. I was going to hold on to the second stock until I bedded the first in case I butchered the job but if you are in real need I could ship it out next day. It be some pricy shipping though. My cost for the stock itself is $180 can so I'd want that plus shipping. Boyds are pricey cause of the exchange and their ridiculous shipping but it is beautiful wood.

When my stock is bedded I'll be selling the USGI fiberglass that it sits in now, but that'll be too long to help you for Thursday.

Safehunter, I probably would have been interested in the USGI slim, but I think it would be harder to bed, and it wouldn't be able to get here by Wednesday I don't think (maybe with Fedex overnight shipping, but that would likely cost about half as much as the cost of the stock!). Thanks for the offer though.

As for Soda Blasting my current stock - I'd love to, but I don't have a sandblaster myself, and I doubt my buddy wants to empty his and let me run soda through it. Plus, don't have any idea where you'd get soda in that kind of quantity. Not to mention, this has to be ready for Thursday morning. Best to just buy something that's ready to go from a local guy like Rod.
