I think you're full of #### and have a bad attitude. What do you think about that? Your leaving isn't a loss to the group.

All have to say is one cannot know everything there is to know and as to Win recoil pads I do believe I suffixed it with "as far as I know", which means just that and is limited to my experience and knowledge..........I do know I have never seen nor heard of an original recoil pad on a Win levergun, I wasn't referring to the mod 54s or 70s as I know very little about the history of them. I also don't think I claimed to be an expert, but I do have significant experience and knowledge of Winchester lever guns..........certainly not all there is to know, but maybe a touch more than the average bear!!!!
The biggest problem with old Winchesters is they would give you whatever you asked for and were willing to pay for, so although I have never seen or heard of an original lever gun with a pad, it certainly doesn't mean it never happened. There are a thousand "one off" Winchester lever guns out there and the only way to be positive of anything is to get the records of your serial number from Cody.
Anyway, I stick by my original statements and assessment of value, until proven wrong by a Cody letter, I still say the stock has been cut and the recoil pad added, it has been buffed and re-blued and the Schnabel has been butchered by amateur sanding and the checkering is wrong for a 95 and not the way it left Winchester........but of course this is just MY opinion. If he doesn't like my opinion then get hold of the only people who can say definitively and get a Cody letter to prove me wrong.
I guess he was thinking it was worth the big bucks and I burst his bubble...........oh well, he'll still likely put it on the EE for 7K............
