I have one of each of these 2 commemorative muskets, both of which have the original box (they actually spend more time in the box) also both 30-30. I have never fired either one. Been a while since I bought these so I don't remember much about them. Does anyone have any idea how many of them were produced and current value? I have a few other levers, I'll see if I can have them posted later

Here are some pics of the 2.

10,442 of the standard issue RCMP, 23,400 of the NRA muskets. Collector value of Winchester commemoratives is/was a bad investment in my mind, just made too dang many thousands of them. The new price of these two back in 1971-73 was about $225.00 and in todays dollar you might get $900-1000 for the RCMP and 800 for the NRA which in itself is silly because dealers in 2017 want $1500+ for a simple Win standard 94' 30-30 carbine.

Condition condition condition. The more numerous a collectible, the less desirable it is. The commemoratives were made to be sold. For the most part, their value is they are seldom fired and generally well oiled used guns.

Handling will always lower the value because inevitably there will be fingerprints and marks on the finish. The book of gun values I just consulted said, even cocking the hammer will leave a line on the exposed rear surface and that is enough to distinguish a true New In Box from one that is just Excellent.

Thanks for all the input. I know that these commemoratives were made in large quantities and meant to be sold. Also I saw that they are being sold less than a new 94'. It would seem that most that want shoot a 94 would buy one of these instead and cost them less than a current 94. Which means that New in Box numbers would start to go down every year. On the other hand, from a collector's point of view, maybe that it would be a good time to buy low.

FYI, a member told me a shop down in Toronto "Nick's" was asking $2500 for the RCMP.

That might be one of the "members only" models which is identical to yours except for the serial number, and 5100 produced.

IIRC a member of the RCMP could buy one and the cost was under $175.
I was going to get one for a friend and when I went to get the coin, he backed out and I did not have the coin at the time to cover the purchase.
Then it was opened up so that members could buy more than one; I know that the S/Sgt. bought two and he knew of someone who ordered five.
Shortly after delivery they were selling for $350.
