At one point it was real easy to get a nice SKS mail ordered, but the quality of the rifles we are getting now is hit or miss. Best to but one from EE that shows good pics of the actual rifle your buying or hand pick it in the store. If the rifle was misrepresented or not what you thought is was call the vendor and see what you can work out.

It's always good to get a few laughs and I'm a sceptic also, but my range officer ran down and kept the target (Silverdale 200 yds, 1/2 inch) which works out to 1/4 MOA, lol, but I didn't want to brag ('cause it'll probably never happen again). So for all you experts shooting that crap milsurp stuff, try some handloading, you might get a surprise. I did, lol. Russian equipment might not look all that pretty, but it works, the Nazis were convinced.

Was that 1 lucky shot on target at 200yds you're counting as 1/2" MOA?

If you take enough shots, eventually you'll get MOA

The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type any given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare. In fact, the monkey would almost surely type every possible finite text an infinite number of times.

Check out EPP's customer service page Very Good means Very Good
They shipped you the wrong gun
They have a return at 10% within 30 days plus you pay shipping
So just keep it..They clean up well

I'd give Epps a phone call, not an email, and explain to them the condition of the gun you received. That may get you some sort of recourse about what to do about it.

I would call them and ask them to exchange SKS for one on the picture. They should honour all shipping fees...

I'm pretty demanding when purchasing anything at a retail store, but I'm not sure that this isn't a premature gripe. Especially with ordering online, things don't always turn out as well as we wish, but equally as important as getting what I paid for is how the retailer responds when I am Las than satisfied. Contacting them and giving them the chance to make things right is pretty reasonable to me. How they respond, what I end up with and if they do something extra to make up for the inconvenience is what I would wait for before posting any kind of a review online. I'm not trying to rip on you, just offering another option that may work out better for you in the short term and down the road.

Cheap surplus rifle or not, you should definitely get what you paid for and the customer service that reflects a retailer's value of your continued patronage.

I bought a refurbished SKS Carbine from Epps through the mail order....It was advertised as Very Good condition , the ad photo was of a lovely looking SKS , but the gun I received is not the one in the photo , Fair condition at best.. Light rust coating over much of the gun , the butt plate and rear sling swivel is heavily rusted , butt trap does not operate , the recoil spring was badly rusted - concerned about it breaking under recoil.

Not recommended , I will not be purchasing any more through their mail order...Very dissappointed.

Your badly misunderestimating the level of knowledge and experience present on this forum. Since she’s such a shooter with you magical reloads, perhaps a target of 5 groups of 5? Surely you’d allow us to see more of the most accurate sks ever made?

The SKS was $269.95...Haven't had a chance to call them yet , but there are no returns on "used" firearms...Of course I know it was a refurbished Mil-Surp , but if they are going to post a photo with the ad they should say something to the effect "similar to the one above"...It's poor business practice to use the same file photo for all their surplus SKS's without stating so , that was what I was upset about mostly.
No point in returning it even if I could as I would end up paying the shipping cost three times if I was to take another one...Better to chalk it up to a lesson learned , yes I should have known better , but the file picture SKS they used sold me...Much better to buy one on the EE here when you can see what your getting...There's no fool like an old fool as the saying goes...

Your statement of "There are no returns on "used" firearms" is not accurate. Ellwood Epps offers a 30-day warranty on all used guns listed in Good or better condition.

Perhaps you should contact the store and speak with one of the staff members there to determine what happened with the gun you expected versus the gun you received. It could be as simple as an error in picking the wrong firearm from inventory when your order was processed rather than some back-handed attempt to provide a lesser item than what you were expecting.

To be perfectly honest, I dont think "some of these sks rifles should be sold. They are beyond miss mashed parts.....they are rusted & non functional and should be sold as that. Vendors will get bad reviews for sure mailing out this Junk. These are beyond Bad.......they are Parts rifles. Start going through the boxes .............

Ya I think I would call and voice my displeasure. As one member pointed out thats the old bait and switch. And yes it's a mil surp, but that doesn't mean they couldn't open the box and give it a 45 second look over. I'd personally keep the rifle and look for a refund to the tune of $40-$60. I once ordered a sks rifle from Durham outdoors, they were advertised as all blued steel, so I emailed them to confirm it before placing the order and received the reply confirming they were all blued steel no barbecue paint. When I received my rifle I got a barbecue paint beat up Rusty SKS, couldn't believe it. I did nothing about it, other than post on gun nuts, sure enough few days later the item description was changed. I cleaned up that sks, refinished the stock, and its a excellent shooter that I take out all the time, so in the end not a complete loss, but irregardless I wish I had of called them on it.
Cheers

I agree.
I havent got a problem with the vendors selling them "IF" .........they advertise them correctly.! If they ran the add- rusted, damaged dented sale. poor condition, $ 75.00 they would sell good,....and NO negative feed back,...& happy customers.
