Lakefield was a Canadian mfr which was taken over by Savage in the 90s.

I have a 91TR (match stock and peep sight).

As accurate as my CZ452 Varmint and Style.

Shooting cheap bulk Winchester ammo, one inch 5-shot groups at fifty yards with scope on a good windless day is easy. Machining and finish is nothing to get excited about but the action feel beats my CZs. Trigger pull can be improved.

Your rifle deserves a better scope with AO.

I'd pay $100.00 for a good used one, a little more for mint. But that's just me and I am cheap. Others may differ.

What? 55 bucks? Guess I'm not cheap enough, eh?

BTW, your Mk2 looks sweet! Congrats. If you don't mind, please post how much you bought it, just to make me jealous.

"...still make them?..." Yep. Like easyrider604 says, Savage owns Lakefield now. Bought them from Mossberg. $55 is a good deal. Astor Arms, in Quebec, has one, without a scope, for $175.
Gunparts lists mags at $22US. You should have too much trouble finding one up here though.

I have one "almost" identical to that. The only difference is the very front of my stock is shaped a little different. Mine is ended off on an angle instead of being rounded.

They are great little guns and will last you a lifetime. I'd be afraid to figure out the actual round count on mine. It belonged to my Grandfather and was passed onto me.

Spare mags for the Savage Mark II will fit just fine. It's basically the same gun, with a new name.

Good. It'll be going on the EE for about $200, if there's any interest. It will come with a plastic case and the scope. If not, then it looks like I got my self a lifetime mini shooter.

Keep it. Treasure it. When those deals come around I think to myself, "Man I could make $### on that gun if I sell it." But when it comes down to it, if you find such a deal you should just keep it and consider yourself lucky to have found it. Give it to your daughter as a present.

:agree:

Those are great guns. They like Winchester ammo in my experience. Federal is pretty good too but don't shoot Remington ammo in it.

I got a Bushnell 4-9x32 rimfire scope on it. For 50 bucks it shoots great out to 50 yards.

Go back and ask if the old guy kept the box and documents? The more complete any gun is, the more value it will hold.

And, I'll give your $56 for your trouble, gas, leg work, and the electrons that died posting your pictures, etc.

I have a Lakefield Mark I single shot, Mark II repeater and the Mark III semi auto...All came scoped with identical outfits and never paid over $125 shipped. Some were in EE for $100 just recently.

Lakefields are good shooters. I was shooting primers out of old shotgun shells at 25 yards last week with mine. It has an old 4x Weaver scope mounted on it. Paid $85.00 for it.
